The Hydrogen Economy : Its role in transport and industry

There is considerable interest in the possible role of hydrogen in a low carbon economy.  At present hydrogen is usually produced from natural gas, generating CO2 as a by-product, but with increasing  amounts now being made by electrolysis of water using electricity generated by renewable sources of energy.

This first series of articles looks at the use of hydrogen as a fuel for road transport, in particular for cars, based on hydrogen production by electrolysis.
